This week has been extremely interesting on. I have added a few new dishes to the list and seen a whole new side of London. Both in a good way and bad way.
The UK Riots continued on this week. It is bloody mad what is going on. I have never seen something like this before. Things all kicked off 4 Aug during a peaceful march to demonstrate against the fatal shooting of a father and husband by the police in Tottenham. This soon turned into a full flesh rioting and looting.

This juvenille behaviour spead throughout the boroughs of London and later outside to Nottingham, Liverpool, Manchester, etc. From the office you could see the smoke towers from the burning buildings. It was a rather surreal feeling and situation to watch the TV and see the city around you literally in smoke. It lasted for 5 days. The worst part about the whole thing was it was teenagers causing all this havoc. They had no consistent rhyme or reason for it either. Thankfully things were brought under control, before we turned into a police state. Pro and cons of social media huh?!
That Friday I got to see another side of London. A view of London that was to die for. Friday I was taken to the Gherkin for an amazing meal and site. I never spent much time in the city, so we toured around a bit. I finally learnt what that metal building with the pipes on the outside was. Who knew it was the Lloyd's building. Haha. There is a certain old school beauty and presence about the city that I find intriguing. I would like to take a proper tour of the area and visit the various site, learn about the history more, etc. There is so much over there that is worth seeing. I need to make a point of spend more time over in the city.
The Gherkin was lush...there is no other way to describe it. We started first in the bar with a cocktail and some olives. The passed the test with a lovely old fashion (that is barometer with restaurants and bars. If you can make a perfect old fashion you pass in my book).
We then went upstairs for the meal with an incredible view of West London. Thankfully CSG was blocked by a building so I was not thinking about work. My focus was on the three course meal, the wine, the grand conversation and view that I had in front of me. It was absolutely divine and so please I have people in my life that can get reservations at such VIP places!!! I am lucky indeed
Hope you all are well. Remember to set your bar high and never accept anything below it
xx
