On Tuesday I seized the moment with a spontaneous purchase of a new toy. There is a new kid in town and its name it Diem! The new Nikon d5100 was "born" 07-Feb-12 at 1532. Weighing only 560g and 128x97x79 mm in dimension, Diem joins the family that includes Nikki (7yrs) and Xavier (4yrs)... and of course Junior, Mini and Gana. It is a tight squeeze, but Mom and kids are excited and doing well.

Some may be questioning why on earth I need a new camera for if I have all those others and the only thing I can say in response is because it is so lovely! You'd buy a new TV even if your old was working well because it came with new features. You upgrade your phones...so why not cameras?! This is the year that I am determined to do something with my photography too...so stay tuned!
Diem was purchased just in time for a private photography event at Kennedy's law firm. I was so excited for this event. The event involved:
- A lecture from the photographer on his various projects
- Q&A session
- Hands on experience using lighting
The evening was amazing. I learnt a lot about using some of the manual features on my camera and how to take portraits. I am still a landscape, flowers, food person but it was a highly educational evening and I am so thankful to Geoff and Caroline for inviting me as a client to the event. Now that I have a snazzy new camera and after some tips...I think it is time to finally go for it and take a course to have a show or something! Here's to 2012 and #MakeItCount!
You are probably wondering who that little one is. Everyone, please meet Gideon. He is 2 months old and lives upstairs. He is a handsome little one and I am looking forward to the day of babysitting him. Miss my nephews and spending time with them, so Gideon offers me a way to vircariously spend time with my nephews. Its not the same...never will be.
Finally the weekend came and with it a "Super Saturday Running Session" of 35 minutes of running (5 minutes longer than last week), 5.46 km (finally broke the 5k marker) and lost 0.5 kg :-) Still have some ways to go to get back to my ideal shape, but every little step counts.
Following the gym session and an IKEA run, it was off to Nat & Adam's for a wine and cheese party (aka Nat's 30th Birthday party)!! Cannot believe our little girl is growing up! It was a low key adult evening of glorious cheese, luscious wines, devilish artichoke dip, and heavenly dessert of homemade chocolate covered strawberries and amaretto cake. Food aside, it was just a lovely evening with good friends. I really love these guys and look forward to seeing them. Nat & Adam hosted a top night, but that is to be expected when Nat is in charge. What an elegant and sophisticated evening. We certainly are in the 30+ club. Blimey!! Happy Birthday Nat!!!
The following day (coupled with a loving wine hangover) it was off to Hampstead Heath for a 2 1/2 hour walk in the snow. Yup it snowed this week. Sadly it wasn't enough for a snow day, but it was nice to see London covered in white powder. I don't know what it is about snow, but there is something magical about it. I know I am a weirdo!
Hampstead Heath is a beautiful park. It is nice cause you feel like you've escaped the city, but blimey it is hilly. The hills in the snow were a wee bit intense for my ankle. Did not like that much, but I know I will get there.
Hope you all are well. Miss you dearly and truly!!
xx
